Position Summary: Via Credit Union is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Business Lending who is responsible for developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies to promote, maintain, expand, and develop Via Credit Union’s business lending services to existing and potential members in Warsaw/Kosciusko County and the field of membership counties south of Kosciusko. The position may be a hybrid position allowing the AVP to work remote as needed when not meeting with members, prospective members, and participating in community outreach. The Warsaw Branch should be utilized for member/prospective member meetings as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to promote, maintain, expand, and develop Via Credit Union’s business services to existing and potential members.
    • Actively call on potential and/or existing members.
  • Identify and develop prospects for future business loan opportunities.
  • Generate business loan applications to increase the business loan portfolio.
  • Collect credit and financial documentation and assess the member’s needs.
    • Assist borrowers with required documents as needed.
    • Review financial problems with members; provide possible solutions for resolution.
  • Attend and participate in community outreach events and networking functions to increase the awareness of ViaCU’s business lending services in field of membership counties.
  • Spend a minimum of 30 hours per week actively calling on businesses and scheduling. appointments with potential business prospects.
  • Compile and maintain business lending reports as necessary.
  • Adhere to all Via Credit Union business lending policies and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Via Credit Union’s business loan products and services.
    • Inform members of business loan products and recommend appropriate products to meet the member’s financial needs.
  • Utilize needed software to ensure efficient member service.
  • Assist departmental co-workers as needed to gather financials for loan portfolio.
  • Cooperate with NCUA examiners and outside auditors.
  • Stay up to date on credit union laws and regulations.
  • Mentor less experienced department staff (Business Development Officers)
  • Train and attend departmental meetings in Marion as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in business lending and/or real estate lending experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lending regulations and guidelines.
  • Previous sales experience preferred.
  • Previous relationship building sales experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen including basic understanding of business returns and financials.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of customer service and interpersonal skills.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be insurable
  • Have reliable transportation
