The Role at a Glance

Lincoln Financial Group has an exciting role open for an AVP, Annuity Valuation Actuary where you will provide reserving and reporting thought leadership to support critical business objectives. This is a visible role and will interact with key business partners.

What you'll be doing
  • Provides specialized expertise and thought leadership to internal/external stakeholders for annuity valuation
  • Ensures actuarial models and assumptions for his/her assigned area(s) comply with all company, financial and industry laws, rules, and regulations
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends including regulatory changes for annuity valuation, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies
  • Ensures that risks, exposure, and key business issues are identified, properly accounted for and resolved
  • Collaborates with key business/management stakeholders to drive the development and adoption of key financial decisions and risk management techniques for the enterprise
  • Supports Finance by providing information and exhibits needed for financial reporting
  • Meets all deadlines and provides accurate information consistent with Stat, GAAP, and other professional requirements and standards
  • Lead regulator, internal and external auditor, and survey inquiries; promptly drives resolution
  • May oversee preparation of operational and risk management metric reports for analysis and presentations to management
  • Introduces and encourages innovation, improvements, and efficiencies where possible in the reserving/reporting processes
  • Collaborates heavily with financial and pricing leadership to effectively manage the Annuities product lines
  • May be involved with review of annuity assumption development work
  • Establishes business partnerships and alliances across the organization and industry; finds common interests and mutually beneficial grounds to help achieve business objectives
What we’re looking for
  • 15+ years of increasing actuarial experience, including 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience influencing senior management/critical stakeholders
  • Substantial experience with Annuity products (Variable Annuity with/without living benefits, Indexed Variable Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, Fixed Annuity, and Payout Annuity)
  • Strong understanding of regulatory/accounting/capital frameworks (STAT/GAAP/Tax, RBC, EC)
  • Strong understanding of balance sheets, income statements, and financial projections
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Understanding of Bermuda regulations is a plus
  • Proficiency with ALFA/AXIS or similar projection software systems is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Undergraduate degree is required
  • FSA designation or ASA designation with substantial additional years of actuarial experience

Pay Range: $118,300 - $215,800

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
