Job overview

PST’s Advanced Materials & Equipment organization is seeking a highly motivated Atomization Engineer. The successful candidate will support metal alloy design and new atomization process technology including advanced processes to service 3D printing markets. This is a hands-on position requiring innovative thinking, documentation of results, process development, and solving materials and process related problems.

Responsibilities

  • Development of atomization process to produce powders used in Additive Manufacturing
  • Characterization and evaluation of particulate composition, morphology, and critical properties
  • Provide technical support for AM powder processing and alloy development.
  • Develop process parameters yielding targeted and tightly controlled particle size distributions
  • Interacting with internal and external customers, providing output and insight on current development activities
  • Document & analyze technical data, generate reports and present recommendations to multiple departments and levels of management


Required qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Materials Engineering or other Engineering field of study
  • 1-5 years’ Experience in metal powder process development
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment; including the use of powders, high temperature processes and pressurized gases
  • Effective project management skills and ability to drive schedules meeting timing budgets in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Preferred experience in metal powder atomization
