Compensation: $20.91 USD per hour

Position Summary:

The Receiving Associate will be part of the team responsible for end-to-end functional operations in the Stamford Distribution Center. As a member of the team the associate will be responsible for pharmaceutical & medical supply receiving, storage, picking, staging and shipping of scheduled drugs up to Class II controlled substances, over-the-counter medicines, and other humanitarian aid related supplies. The Associate will process inbound deliveries of donated and purchased products that arrive palletized and as loose case goods, organize & maintain the warehouse environment & equipment, complete outbound orders by picking and packing (using a hand-held scanner), as well as loading/unloading inbound and outbound trucks. This is a very dynamic working environment with job assignments shifting daily to accommodate the needs of Americares.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Physically receive and process inbound deliveries of donated and purchased medicines (prescription and over-the-counter), supplies (medical and non-medical) and other miscellaneous products for distribution to Americares partners.
  • Verify and process deliveries using various types of inbound electronic and hardcopy donor/vendor documentation to accurately account for and record delivery and product information.
  • Perform data entry of product and delivery information into inventory management database using bar code scanners and computer workstations.
  • Attention to detail is critical and a high degree of accuracy is required.
  • Build, stage, and ship outbound skids/orders as needed/directed to support successful order fulfillment.
  • Process paper pick lists with a scan gun and/or computer workstations by physically pulling materials; packing boxes, placing orders in staging area; loading trailers and trucks in an expeditious manner, adherent to time constraints and delivery schedules.
  • Standard outbound loads range from full aircraft loads (80+ pallets) to 40’ sea containers, less-than-truckload (LTL) pallet loads, and small air shipments.
  • High number of small-pack orders to be shipped via FedEx Ground to support our US and Medical Outreach partners. Orders range from 1 to 20 cases but can also reach to multiple LTL palletized loads.
  • Manage and handle inventory to ensure accuracy and the integrity of products, using a variety of equipment:Bar code scanners

Man-up harnessed platform order picker
Hand operated pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, rolling bins
Stretch wrapping machines, pallet scales
Banding equipment

  • Perform physical tasks as needed:Offload trailers; and stage appropriately for product intake processing

Occasionally called upon to hand unload or load sea containers/trucks
Ability to lift and move 80 lbs. unassisted
Conduct frontline check on product quality and appropriateness, screening all stock for expiration, tampering, damage, etc. and report promptly to management any items or issues of concern.

  • Maintain inventory controls through:Accurate counting habits & teamwork;

Diligence with Cycle Counting tasks – Directed and Opportunistic
Delivering on requests from Inventory Control
Participating in the year-end physical inventory audit
Assist in maintaining proper levels of warehouse consumable products stock (boxes, stickers, wrap, tape, etc.…) to keep operations running smoothly

  • Assist in the daily housekeeping and maintenance of the warehouse such as sweeping, mopping and other general warehouse maintenance
  • Perform other tasks and projects requested by Americares.

Key Outcomes:

In the first 90 days, the DC Associate will learn the ins and outs of the department they are primarily assigned to, pass basic forklift training, earn and keep a forklift license, and work towards or complete basic narrow-aisle reach truck training and earn/keep a narrow-aisle reach truck license.

In the first 6 months, the DC Associate will work autonomously in their primary department; gain some exposure to picking small package orders, LTLs, Air and Sea shipments; pass basic training on the Man-Up Harnessed Platform Order Picker and earn and keep a Man-Up Harnessed Platform Order Picker license.

In the first year, the DC Associate will be able to work in all 3 departments (Intake, Small Package Shipping, and International Shipping) independently. The associate should have earned, and kept in good standing, licenses for the Sit-Down Forklift, Narrow-Aisle Reach Truck and the Man-Up Harnessed Platform Order Picker. The associate should have also completed their Global Harmonization System training and certification in Dangerous Goods Training.

We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have warehouse/distribution center intake/receiving experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical & medical devices environment
  • You have a previous certification and training on sit-down/reach-truck/order-picker forklifts
  • You have the ability to hold and maintain lift truck licenses
  • You have experience with HazMat or shipping dangerous goods
  • You have the ability to lift/move packages of up to 80 lbs. independently
  • You have basic knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook), the ability to do complex data entry and navigate within the Windows operating environment; use of internet, as well as detailed keyboard work in the Americares inventory system
  • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • You have the ability to come in early, stay late and work weekend/nights if requested during an emergency response by Americares or when workloads dictate
  • You have language in at least one of our core languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi, Kiswahili, Haitian Creole (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement)
  • You have US work authorization (required)
