Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Associate Director of Communications, School of Nursing [R0135425].
ROLE of the POSITION
The Associate Director of Communications is responsible for managing and administering a comprehensive communications and marketing program for the School of Nursing.

Under the leadership of the Assistant Dean for Administration, Engagement & Outreach, the Associate Director collaborates with school leadership, development staff, center directors and multiple university level partners to develop processes and strategies that will advance relationships between the school and its stakeholders. Duties include: creating and maintaining a communications plan that highlights faculty and student achievement and ties school priorities with key university initiatives; developing and/or managing creation of internal and external communications materials (collateral, news releases, feature and web content, advertising, recruitment materials, and online and social media) for the school, its signature programs, faculty, staff and students; manage and update the school’s website; delivering communications and marketing counsel to the dean, administrators, program chairs and students; coordinating with central university communicators on news and information about the school; cultivating and maintaining a strong media presence through strategic outreach; and supporting annual and signature event programming and production.
Job Duties include but not limited to:
  • Direct the editorial and content creation and production for the School of Nursing through digital and print platforms, and major print publications. This position oversees the School of Nursing website, editorial and content calendars, news announcements, and the production of various marketing collateral pieces.
  • Create, design and write compelling communication material for internal and external constituents including students, faculty/staff, alumni, donors and the public.
  • Work collaboratively with representatives of University Marketing & Communications to coordinate School of Nursing communications and align the school's branding with UNLV's brand.
  • Create and implement outreach strategies including surveys, emails and mailings to track student & alumni data.
  • Managing the development of nursing school collateral materials and creating an electronic presence to educate stakeholders about the nursing school programs, faculty scholarship, and student achievement, including providing the dean, associate deans, and other administrators with advice and counsel on communications and marketing issues.
  • Will work collaboratively with key leadership to advance the goals of the SON.
  • Work collaboratively with Enrollment Coordinator to design and produce of marketing materials for student recruitment to increase enrollment.
  • Work with faculty, administrators, staff and students to identify and promote newsworthy scholastic events and activities of the school including faculty research, student centered events and other relevant programmatic activities, particularly those that will further the strategic goals of SON, including student and faculty recruitment and development endeavors.
  • Working with the school's webmaster and/or the Web Communications office to manage content and overall direction of the school's website and other electronic products.
  • Manage and grow the School of Nursing's social media efforts on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and potential other sites as user trends evolve.
  • Build digital community thorough social media channels, blogs, and the web.
  • Grow and engage user base.
  • Compile data, analyze and report on social media use.
  • Serve as a School of Nursing representative on select Communication Committees across campus.

The School of Nursing at UNLV offers CCNE-accredited programs leading to a BSN, MS (nurse practitioner and nurse educator tracks), DNP, and PhD (Educator and Interprofessional Health concentrations and DNP to PhD).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
