Laborie Medical Technologies is currently searching for an Associate Director of Distribution to join our team in the Portsmouth, NH office.


Position Overview:

Manages the Warehouse Team and oversees the entire process of Inbound & Outbound Shipping, Raw Materials Management, Picking, Packing, Returns and Inventory Control. Identifies and implements process improvements, ensures adherence to the company Quality Systems Requirements (QSR), ensure quality and compliance in all processes to meet medical device industry regulations and Health & Safety standards.

Lead and motivate the Warehouse Team to ensure on-time goods movement, efficient storage, and inventory accuracy, achieve annual supply chain objectives and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) targets. Coordinate external relationships with vendors, customers, freight carriers and customs; align internal operations with Supply Chain, Operations, Production and Quality teams, and accomplish the highest-level customer satisfaction with high quality and timely service.


How you contribute:

Develop and rollout strategic leadership initiatives and have working knowledge around the following areas:

Warehouse Operations

  • Plan, prioritize and adjust daily & weekly warehouse work schedule and labor plan based on supply chain, operations and production inputs
  • Supervise and monitor warehouse daily activities, include Inbound & Outbound Shipping, Picking, Packing, Returns and Inventory control
  • Oversee the returns processes including demo & vendor returns, arrange reverse logistics to customers and vendors
  • Prepare reports, track performance against KPIs and assist in monitoring performance to improve warehouse operations efficiency
  • Implement company policies and procedures
  • Monitor, develop and write warehouse related procedures and work instructions
  • Monitor process and product quality and report any problems to management
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Assist management with inventory and shipment questions and perform other duties as assigned

Inventory Management

  • Work with Supply Chain department to ensure inventory accuracy, maximize inventory turns, and on time receiving/outbound shipment
  • Ensure First-In First-Out (FIFO) is maintained, follow FIFO inventory rotation to minimize stock write-off due to expiry
  • Lead and enforce inventory control initiatives, maintains inventory accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts and annual physical inventory audit; collaborating with supply chain & finance to reconcile variances, investigate the root cause and improve processes
  • Monitor expiry dates on disposables and process adjustments request as required on a regular basis
  • Ensure that warehouse temperature is monitored and reviewed

Continuous Improvement

  • Ability to design and implement warehouse and inventory control policies with standards, process improvements, cost savings initiatives and projects
  • Maintain and optimize storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse following 5S principles
  • Follow health & safety protocols and wear protective gear as required

Leading the Warehouse Team

  • Motivate team to improve productivity & maintain an accurate activity log
  • Provide warehouse training and development of new and current employees, ensuring robust training procedures and maintain training records
  • Lead performance development for direct reports
  • Drive a positive work culture focused on continuous improvement of systems and team capabilities

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in logistics, warehouse planning, supply chain or business
  • 7-10 years of previous warehouse and inventory control leadership experience
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Seradex)
  • Previous experience in medical device / pharmaceutical / electronics manufacturing and ISO 13485 environment
  • Proficient with MS Office Suites, include Excel; strong analytical & problem-solving skills; able to develop own control tools to monitor & report inventory & KPI reports
  • Knowledge or experience with UPS, FedEx, Freight Forwarders, and associated shipping programs with basic understanding of customs regulation
  • A self-starter with proven ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve management objectives; activity planning & prioritization is a key requirement
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills to achieve cross-functional teams’ success
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in an environment with multiple priorities while demonstrating excellent attention to detail
  • Able and willing to lift 50 LBS on a routine basis.
