Role Summary/Purpose

As a critical member of the Product organization, the AVP, Customer Acquisitions, is responsible for facilitating growth of Synchrony’s acquisition channels through innovation, enhancement and process redesign. The ideal candidate will have expertise in consumer acquisitions, specifically as it relates to credit prequalification. In addition, this individual will be asked to partner closely with Synchrony’s client marketing teams to stay in tune with channel performance and identify areas of opportunity to optimize Prequal and overall acquisitions strategy. This role will work closely with Product and Technology leaders to drive agile execution of capability development, and will lead the development, testing and launch of new capabilities, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, focus and flawless execution. A strong understanding of Agile development methodology, as well as the ability to work closely with cross-functional support teams, is a critical job requirement. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with ambiguity, be able to operate in a fast-moving, agile environment, be willing to serve as a team player with strong collaborative skills, and act as an owner, proactively taking initiative.

This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. We’re proud to offer you choice and flexibility.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Partner with client marketing teams to assess Prequalification channel performance and identify areas for optimization

  • Lead the coordination and delivery of new enhancements and feature development for the Prequalification channel

  • Manage multiple product and capability initiatives at once, helping to drive clear prioritization direction to the cross functional teams

  • Partner with cross-functional members throughout the organization to identify gaps, capability needs and growth opportunities related to acquisition channel growth

  • Partner closely with technology program leaders and agile train leadership driving the execution of product development from requirement development and prioritization through testing and launch

  • Work with business development and client teams to guide acquisitions strategy, and to identify / promote growth opportunities

  • Coordinate with other Product Managers to guide roadmap strategy, and commercialize across Synchrony’s platforms and portfolios

  • Provide leadership and own escalation for all issues that might arise across functional teams in assigned workstreams

  • Proactively engage with Compliance and Legal representatives to ensure adherence with external and internal compliance and regulatory requirements

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma and 7 years of product development and technology integration experience in the credit card, financial services or technology industries

  • Demonstrated experience within customer acquisitions – Prequalification experience preferred

  • Minimum of 4 years Product Management experience that includes:

    • Leading large complex programs over multiple releases

    • A proven track record of launching new products or applications with demonstrated business impact

    • Ability to influence and coordinate multi-functional teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Credit card, consumer finance, payments, financial services or retail services industry experience.

  • 3+ years’ experience in Prequalification

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience of effective verbal and written communication skills across functions and multiple levels of leadership

  • Strong agile experience preferably in product management

  • Understanding of regulatory environment governing financial services and Preapproved capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex initiatives and projects in a matrixed, high speed, and quickly changing business environment.

  • Outstanding communications, relationship building, influencing and collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated strong quality/process improvement experience, with relevant examples that improved business performance and customer experience

  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions in a fast-changing environment.

  • Current on financial services, payments industry trends, competitors, emerging technologies and companies

  • Strong technical knowledge (financial services)

  • Strong UX / customer experience focus

  • Experience working with partners and vendors, where negotiation skills are required

  • Proactive, self-starter with a high degree of self-initiation

Grade/Level: 11


The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 150,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
