Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join the Facilities Chemical Business Unit in our Atlanta, Georgia office. This position will work closely with the Project Manager and be accountable for Project Control execution on major projects. Your career path is in Project Management. You will utilize your experience to help companies ranging from small startup firms to large multinational firms. POWER, with these positions, is a hybrid office environment with options to occasionally work from home. The focus of this group is Hydrogen, Gas Processing and General Chemicals. The Facilities Division of POWER engineers is a full-service A & E consulting engineering firm that specializes in and is a leader in Chemicals, Food & Beverage, Federal, and Industrial facility design.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the project planning process including initiation, design, engineering, commissioning, and close out
  • Work with the Project Manager on project implementation and status updates on both an engineering discipline level and project level including project schedule, project budget, risk management and the project resources including external vendors
  • Assist in metrics tracking such as earned value, associated reporting to stakeholders, and compliance with regulatory, corporate and department procedures during all the phases of the project
  • Lead the effort for projects in areas including project forecasting, cost monitoring, feedback & reporting and project strategy optimization.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry related experience) from an accredited university required – engineering or engineering management
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2
  • Equivalent industry related experience is defined as five (5) + years of professional experience in the chemical capital projects industry
  • Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools
  • General understanding of project lifecycles

The successful applicant must also demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of use of MS Project or P6
  • Knowledge of project labor hour accounting techniques for integration into schedules
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to travel approximately 30% of your time
  • Ability to work effectively with competing priorities and stressful situations

Desired Education/Experience

  • Five (5) + years of assistant project management experience
  • Experience in project scheduling, cost control, reporting and administration
  • Familiarity with Front End Planning (CII) project life cycle models and deliverables typically provided in each phase gate

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $50K - $89K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
