Job Information
Northeastern State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Director of Jazz Studies and Commercial Music (Saxophone Preferred) starting in the Fall of 2023.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include directing the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, teach applied lessons, teach courses within the jazz studies & commercial music curriculum, including Music Production, American Popular Music Improv: Theory & Practice, Composition for Jazz & American Popular Music.
Recruiting highly qualified students for departmental ensembles and courses, engage in outreach activities, including Green Country Jazz Festival, departmental fund-raising events, and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Doctorate preferred with emphasis in jazz studies & commercial music, saxophone performance, or education. ABD with significant progress towards dissertation completion considered. Experience in jazz performance and jazz pedagogy; significant professional experience as an instrumentalist/performer; demonstrated success teaching at the college level.

Copy of a transcript for the highest degree earned (unofficial transcripts are acceptable at the preliminary stage). Transcripts may be scanned, saved and uploaded. An official/certified transcript is required upon employment.
