Summary
The Department of Nutritional Sciences in the University of Michigan, School of Public Health is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of Nutritional Epidemiology and/or Nutrition Intervention.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated capability or substantial promise to develop an externally funded research focusing on nutrition epidemiology or nutrition intervention. Applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor must demonstrate a record of high quality publications in peer-reviewed journals and a demonstrated potential to secure competitive, external research funding.
Priority areas include: (1) epidemiological research on the relationship of nutrition to health outcomes across life cycle (including ‘omics, clinical and population-level outcomes); (2) equity-focused research related to food policy, clinical practice and/or community nutrition intervention; (3) the development and evaluation of clinical (i.e. precision nutrition) and/or population-based programs or policies to improve nutrition and related health outcomes and reduce health disparities. An overarching priority is the development of policy-relevant research whose findings may be help to reduce health disparities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, the School of Public Health, and the University of Michigan to design and implement novel epidemiological and/or behavioral nutrition studies, including intervention trials. The University of Michigan is a top-ranked collaborative and prestigious university located in the friendly and vibrant city of Ann Arbor.
The faculty will be expected to participate in undergraduate and graduate education related to Nutrition Epidemiology and/or Nutrition Intervention. Faculty members will take an active role in student advising and the supervision of students participating in public health nutrition internships and research opportunities for graduate students and pre- and post-doctoral trainees.
Required Qualifications*
Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in nutritional sciences, epidemiology, health behavior, or related public health or medical discipline, and should have research experience in some aspect of nutrition epidemiology and/or prevention and control of nutrition-related chronic conditions.
