Job Description

The Gateway Family YMCA, Wellness Center & Five Points Branch seek a Full Time Assistant Membership Director to join our team. Under the supervision of the Director of Sales & Member Engagement, Assistant Director will assist in overseeing the Membership department, including the experience of our members, providing day-to-day direction and supervision Welcome Center staff, ensuring that all Membership operations operate in a quality manner consistent with YMCA guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Have at least two years of experience in a Customer Service position, supervisory experience a plus.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational and communication skills. Must be detailed oriented.
  • Be mature-minded, responsible, and must have experience in scheduling of programs and events.
  • Have CPR and First Aid certifications or willing to get certified within first 90 days.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Outlook and Excel
  • Weekend and evening hours may be required. Schedule may vary and requires flexibility and availability at both the branch and/or to attend community events as needed.
Essential Functions
  • Assists in operating and managing all aspects of the Membership Department and member engagement.
  • Actively participants in Branch team and Membership meetings, trainings, branch and/or community events as needed.
  • In partnership with the Director, interview, hire and train qualified staff for the Welcome Center staff team. Along with the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for staff scheduling, arranging for substitutes as needed and filling in when needed. As well as, monitoring staff on a regular basis to maintain quality customer service and provide support to staff.
  • Assists in recruiting new members and contributes to membership sales by giving facility tours, membership calls, providing information about Y membership and programs or connecting with the appropriate program director.
  • Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Attend weekly meeting with Director of Sales & Member Engagement to discuss updates on all site, staff, and branch items. Maintain a professional manner at all times with members, staff, co-workers, and community. Act in accordance with the YMCA philosophy, department objectives, goals and our policies and procedures.
  • Assume or perform any other duties deemed necessary by immediate supervisor or The Gateway Family YMCA Association.
