Main Purpose of the Role:

The primary role of the Assistant General Manager is to support and assist in overseeing all retail operations, with the ability to make decisions and complete tasks in the absence of the General Manager.

The Assistant General Manager is a partner to the General Manager, working together to plan and execute business development strategies for growth and operational excellence. It is important for the Assistant General Manager to demonstrate leadership by effectively managing the team, driving sales and being solution oriented when encountering problems or issues within the store.

Daily operations include opening/closing procedures, sales target management and communication, merchandising, cash and inventory management, scheduling, and staffing, and most importantly, demonstrating exceptional leadership throughout the store.

Requirements:

  • 38-40 hours/week in store
  • Ability to work a retail schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Role Accountabilities

  • Sales and Profitability:
  • Drive sales to achieve/exceed sales budgets and key performance indicators (KPI) benchmarks.
  • Analyze sales weekly by category and identify areas for improvement or growth.
  • Assist in managing operating expenses such as wages, supplies and other operating costs to improve profitability of the store.
  • Effectively communicate with GM and buying team regarding product needs to drive sales, including product and vendor training.
  • Encourage a sales focused and driven culture within the store. Must be able to articulate company direction and focus to lead a team in the pursuit of common goals.
  • Operations:
  • Assist the General Manager with daily and weekly retail operations.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Precise cash handling and management.
  • Ensures facility compliance with federal, state, and local industry regulations.
  • Responsible for reporting any indication of loss, whether shrink or theft.
  • Ensure store and company standards are upheld throughout the entire store.
  • Oversee key projects or processes as outlined with General Manager.
  • Assist with inventory management and tasks.
  • Leadership:
  • Lead by example and demonstrate exceptional customer service while managing the team to do the same.
  • Actively motivate, coach, counsel and discipline staff as needed to meet company and store expectations as outlined.
  • Recognize and acknowledge outstanding performance or service.
  • Initiate and participate in any sales/operational training or product knowledge training.
  • Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays. Scheduling is flexible and time off is permitted but must be approved by Store Manager.
  • Administration/HR:
  • Comply with company and HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure.
  • Responsible for reporting/documenting any and all personnel issues to the General Manager and Human Resources Manager in a timely manner.
  • Manage all record and timekeeping with accuracy.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with state and federal labor laws.
  • Manage employee relations with support of GM and Human Resources.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check
  • Valid identification to work in the US
  • Sitting and standing for an extended period of time
  • Push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to follow a retail schedule, including working nights, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (preferred)
  • Proficiency in technology software, desktop electronics, MS Office
  • First Aid and OSHA training a plus

Pay: $41,000.90 - $53,000.10 per year
