GENERAL SUMMARY:

With a great can-do attitude, as the Assistant General Manager (“AGM”) for the front of the house operations, the GEN Korean BBQ House AGM works hand in hand with the General Manager to set the example for all other shift leads, servers, bartenders, food runners, bussers and hostesses to follow. The AGM has a firm understanding of FOH operations, payroll, scheduling, opening procedures and closing procedures.

This person takes the role of a mentor and coach and is responsible for helping the General Manager ensure the proper development of the team by partnering with each FOH server to ensure proper greetings, introduction/recommendation of menu items and frequent table touches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to)

  • Train hostesses to evenly distribute guest seating according to customer flow number of servers.
  • Take initiative and encourage team members to work efficiently.
  • Has a strong understanding of the menu to make food/beverage recommendations and generate excitement of specialty items.
  • Strong understanding and accurate use of POS and ordering technology.
  • Accurate and proper charging of all food and beverages ordered or consumed by the customer.
  • Sound decision making when overriding, voiding or making adjustments to guest checks. Adjustments should not occur frequently.
  • Performs actual serving duties during rush or peak service times.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Monitor FOH staff
  • Provide hands on demonstration and training to FOH staff with respect to guest welcome, menu explanation, upselling techniques and guest follow up.
  • Frequent customer interaction during dining experience (table touching).
  • Busing and Pre-Busing duties.
  • Act in the capacity of a Lead Server.
  • Partners with General Manager and BOH Lead or Kitchen Manager to communicate food volume and specialty requests.
  • Cleans restaurant work spaces as needed or directed by the General Manager or Kitchen Lead.
  • Assist General Manager with staff scheduling.
  • Works well in a team environment with all levels of team members.
  • Exhibits professional and effective communication amongst both FOH and BOH staff.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of external customers as well as internal customers.
  • Immediately reports concerns and possible policy violations to the General Manager.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the restaurant, including, but not limited to, dusting, sweeping, cleaning, and food/equipment prep.
  • Reports poor quality food and issues with restaurant equipment to supervisor on duty, immediately.
  • Ensures the use of all personal protective equipment and abides by all safety rules and regulations.
  • 100% compliance with all food safety/sanitation rules and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required. Multi-lingual highly preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and hospitality skills required.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and demeanor.
  • Availability to work 4-5 days out of the week including weekends.
  • Active Food Handler Certificate or Card required.

Required Education

  • High school diploma/GED

Required Length & Related Experience

  • Minimum 2 years prior restaurant operations (FOH) experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year prior supervisory or equivalent work experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (i.e. 6+ hours).
  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Frequently works in a warm environment, next to or directly in front of hot cooking equipment.
