Assistant Estimator for Heavy Highway and Infrastructure Construction

Position Summary:

The Assistant Estimator provides direct support to project estimating and management in the heavy, highway, infrastructure, site work, and concrete construction industry on projects ranging from $250,000 - $10 million. This position directly supports the Estimator to efficiently, successfully, and profitably complete assigned construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform take-offs
• Read and understand project specifications and drawings
• Enter bid items into estimating software and build crews
• Solicitation for material and sub-contractor quotes
• Attendance at prebid, openings and project meetings
• Assistance, as requested, with project management and estimating

Qualifications

REQUIRED: 3+ years of field management, engineering and\or estimating experience in HEAVY & HIGHWAY work (heavy civil and structures, i.e. bridges, culverts road reconstruction, retaining walls, site work, underground utilities, excavation and earth moving).

REQUIRED: Computer proficiency - this position requires using estimating software, online project tools and digital documents

Additional preferred qualifications are:

• B.S. Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Experience in a construction office
• HCSS software and the PennDOT ECMS system experience
• Ability to travel locally for pre-bid conferences, site visits, bid reviews, and other purposes as needed to fully perform the functions of this position.

This is a full-time, permanent position.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
