Responsible for the management of General Accounting Office, Sponsored Programs Accounting, and cashiering.

Responsible for the general ledger accounts, all financial statements, and management of all financial audits.

Assists the Controller in directing the University’s financial accounting functions and the most complex financial projects.

These functions include establishing and maintaining accurate: ledgers; accounting principles and practices; internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Demonstrated leadership experience in general accounting.

Strong management skills for effectively achieving the general accounting departments goals for financial reporting and its significant underlying workflows.

Ability to identify and prioritize tasks, to carry out assignments from start to finish, to make independent judgments, and to function with minimal supervision.

Ability to present technical information and training to all levels of UNMC community.

Effective communication skills to work with external auditors, internal management, staff and leadership.

Ability to read, interpret and explain GASB, SAS, COSO, State regulations, Uniform Guidance, policies and procedures.

Ability to supervise, delegate and instruct employees.

Preferred Education:
Master's degree

Experience at UNMC in a management accounting role with an emphasis on analysis skills, compliance and/ or auditing.
