ASL- RID Certified Interpreter Training Coordinator (FT)
Job description
- Must hold a current RID Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf
- Bachelor's Degree in Interpreting or a related field
- 5 + years experience while certified in providing community interpreting services
- 2+ years experience as an ASL interpreter educator or mentor
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have knowledge of Deaf Culture
- Must have knowledge of professional interpreting and Deaf organizations
- Proven experience mentoring and creating professional development plans for interpreters is a plus.
- Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record; Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs.
- Working knowledge of MS Office; Proficient with ZOOM.
- Excellent, problem-solving, planning, and organization skills.
- Hybrid position, remote work with some travel as needed throughout the state to meet staff or clients on site ( company car available or mileage reimbursement provided)
- Provide interpreting services for Deaf employees during staff meetings, stakeholder meeting,s and agency training
- Mentor and oversee novice interpreters on our staff to create professional development plans to improve skills on a road to RID certification
- Team with novice interpreters on job interviews to provide support and ensure quality interpreting services are being provided
- Create a training schedule for interpreting staff by scheduling relevant monthly and quarterly workshops and trainings through various resources
- Assess applicant skill levels and make recommendations for hiring
- Conduct professional development meetings with staff interpreters to provide feedback and promote a positive environment for growth and skill building
