Where the Chemistry Happens As a chemicals supplier to almost all industries, BASF will establish a standalone subsidiary dedicated to its Mobile Emissions Catalysts, Precious Metals Trading, Recycling, and related Products and Services business. The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions will operate globally in over 15 countries and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees. We are seeking a professional like you to initiate and lead efforts to safely achieve planned production goals and objectives. Manage production operations to ensure safe and efficient production within established standards of Safety, Health, Quality, Cost and Environmental Protection. Have a demonstrated ability to lead employee engagement through Behavioral Based Safety processes and can support the BASF Journey to EHS Excellence.

Managing the assigned Area with Safety as a value. Lead Prep Area EHS improvement initiatives while demonstrating safety leadership, driving engagement though Seneca’s Behavioral Safety process, and employing tools provided by BASF’s Journey to EHS Excellence. Demonstrating ability to lead employee engagement through Behavioral Based Safety processes and can support the BASF Journey to EHS Excellence. Achieving production goals while meeting established standards of Safety, Efficiency Quality, Cost and Environmental Protection. Maintaining appropriate precious metal controls and support BASF metal control practices to ensure customer lot integrity and to minimize precious metal loss. Utilizing Lean / Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement of Prep Area operations. Leading 24x7 operations of the Prep Area by working with the Shift Supervisors and other Area Managers to ensure that production objectives are safely and efficiently met. Coordinating maintenance activities so that priorities and schedules can be set. Ensuring repair of equipment with a minimum of down time. Ensuring effective training of Prep Area personnel. Maintaining an atmosphere of inclusion and mutual respect among all employees and supervision in the assigned area and across the site. Communicating and interact effectively with support functions to ensure effective and efficient area operations. Managing department within established cost guidelines. Providing leadership to team of 50+ personnel (production supervisors, operators, and support personnel).

BS in Engineering discipline (preferably in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial) or related technical discipline with minimum 3 years’ experience in a Chemical Manufacturing or Precious Metals Refining Operations. A minimum of 12 years in a Chemical Manufacturing or Precious Metals Refining Operations will substitute for a BS. Experience in Materials Handling is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership capability in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety standards for manufacturing required. Experience in Manufacturing quality systems and ISO 9000 Standards preferred Computer skills – MS Excel and MS Word required, SAP a plus Demonstrated application of Statistical Process Control Continually fosters innovation and embraces change, especially in difficult environments.
