Summary

The Area Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating and overseeing production related to DSS/Pultrusion, Slitting and Coating and Endwind areas in accordance with company policy and customer requests.

Essential Functions and Duties

· Administer instructions to Slitting and Coating, DSS/Pultrusion and Endwind employees directly from General Manager (GM), Plant Manager (PM) and Production Manager (PRM)

· Organize and coordinate in your given areas above.

· Conduct minor machine maintenance and safety checks

· Collaborate with other area managers to complete different production orders

· Maintain all area-specific materials inventory by tracking and reporting any shortages to management in a timely manner

· Complete customer material orders as well as internal material orders to supply other areas of production with required material

· Work with PRM and area managers to prioritize and carry out daily production tasks in line with customer deadlines

· Enforce company policies for area DSS/Pultrusion, Slitting and Coating and Endwind Employees

· Participate in improving operational systems, processes and policies in support of the organization’s goals – specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management

· Compile and deliver area production numbers for all shifts to PRM, daily

· Collaborate with other area managers, as well as PRM to obtain materials and resources necessary for production success, including placing material requests with other area managers in a timely manner

· Assist HR and PRM in correctly staffing for DSS/Pultrusion, Slitting and Coating and Endwind employees

· Mitigate minor employee grievances in accordance with human resources and company policy

· Participate in daily communication meetings with PRM, other area managers and area employees

· Supervise and coach subordinate employees on a daily basis

· Help to drive down operational and payroll costs by adhering to company reporting policies

· Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce cost and scrap

· Work effectively and relate well with others

· Approve or deny any subordinate employee time-off requests in accordance with the current production schedule

· Review & Approve Time and Attendance each week for your assigned employees by Noon Monday

· Complete any and all other general tasks handed down by GM, PM and/or PRM.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Approximately 15 non-supervisory employees report to this position (amount with vary with employee turnover/company growth).

Required Skills

· At least 4 years’ experience in manufacturing/process environment

· At least 2 years’ experience in supervisory/management position

· Fork truck certification required

· OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification helpful

· Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands/arms, talk/hear

· Frequently sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

· Not required to climb, balance, taste or smell

· Must have the ability to occasionally lift at least 75 lbs.

· Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

· Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)

· Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up/down or left/right while eyes are fixed on a given point)

· Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)

· Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)

· Ability to see color

Work Environment/Exposure to Environmental Conditions:

· Regularly:

- Work near moving mechanical parts

- Work with fumes or airborne particles

- Work with caustic or toxic chemicals

- Work under very loud noise levels

- Work near extreme heat (non-weather)

· Occasionally:

- Work with risk of electrical shock

- Work with heavy vibrations

· Not Required To:

- Work in wet/humid conditions (non-weather)

- Work in high, precarious places

- Work regularly in outdoor weather conditions

- Work in extreme cold (non-weather)

- Work with explosives

- Work under risk of radiation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour
