Description

On-going recruitment for part-time instructors to teach in the area of American Sign Language. Availability of contract hours and schedule (day, evening, or on-line instruction) dependent on need for future semesters.

Examples of Duties

Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.

Ensure teaching and working environment (classroom, lab, shop) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards.

Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines.

Maintain ADA Compliance for all course materials.

Qualifications

Master's degree in American Sign Language (or related area) with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in American Sign Language required.

All coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Principles and procedures of academic and institutional program development in relevant field
  • Current trends, research, developments, and resources in relevant field
  • Federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as they relate to students and teaching

Ability to:

  • Create effective instruction for delivery both online and in the classroom
  • Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Work effectively in diverse teams, both within assigned department and cross-functionally across the college
  • Interpret and apply college goals, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain any relevant equipment and supplies related to instruction

Must value the concept of teamwork and work well with others. The candidate must possess good organizational skills, maintain accurate records, communicate effectively, and share the community college education philosophy.

All adjunct positions are contingent upon enrollment needs and funding.

All employees paid by direct deposit.

Copies of all unofficial degree transcripts, including coursework completed and degree conferred, must be provided during the on-line application process. Official transcripts are required to be forwarded to the CVCC Personnel Office upon hire.
