Responsibilities for the Security/Fire Alarm Technician:

  • Roughs-in low voltage cable for electronic safety/security and life safety systems on new construction projects.
  • Trims/Installs access control, fire alarm, cameras, antennas, voice, video, data, fiber devices.
  • Read plans and feeds cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, positioning and terminating cables, wires, or strapping.
  • Mounts and fastens control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, notification and initiating devices, video cameras and attaches electrical and telephone wiring to connect components.
  • Uses industry software to manage projects including all documentation.
  • Ensures systems meet regulations following applicable codes and standards.
  • Attends and assists with city and state inspections.
  • Assists in other areas of low voltage installation or service as needed.
  • Has the ability to understand and communicate using technical concepts, practices and terminology.
  • Has the knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Works independently and must meet deadlines accordingly.
  • Transports and climbs ladders as needed.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel. Typical travel limited to the State of Texas.

  • Be able to interpret project plans and specs.
  • Respond effectively to sudden changes. Apply flexibility and the ability to adjust quickly.
  • Move from one task to another without a loss of efficiency.
  • Be able to keep detailed organized records.
  • Must work well with sub-contractors and building owners.
  • Dependability - Is consistently at work and on time; arrives at meetings and appointments on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction. Ability to work flexible hours and work around a changing schedule
  • Must have your own hand tools.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain a TX Fire Alarm License.
  • Ability to obtain a TDPS PSB installer License.
  • ESA Certified Alarm Technician L1 (within 6 months required)
  • Applicants must pass criminal background check & drug screen.

Physical Demands

  • Able to work in small, confined spaces and in extreme temperatures and conditions.
  • Work from a ladder and manlift.
  • Work consistently during the day, standing, climbing, crawling, kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or lifting approximately 50 to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear work boots with steel toe, and other standard PPE such as hard hats, ear plugs, safety goggles. On occasion, dust masks may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
