General Summary. The Crew Chief will manage all aspects of assigned aircraft projects including coordinating necessary resources, applying reasonable, challenging goal hours, managing/assisting team members in meeting or exceeding goal hours, documentation, and communication with the appropriate personnel, including customers, to ensure timeliness and quality for delivery of these assigned aircraft projects. Inspect, service, repair and troubleshoot aircraft seats, components, and systems in a safe and organized work area to meet all approved data.


Essential Job Functions:

1. Accept full ownership of assigned projects from pre-planning to delivery of aircraft projects by planning, prioritizing, and communicating with customers, company personnel, original equipment manufacture’s, outside contractors and vendors. Ensure the safety and security of customer’s equipment, parts and aircraft during all maintenance phases.


2. Manage projects by scheduling and assigning work for team members and monitoring day-to-day activities of team members for compliance and quality performance. Hold team members accountable to Elliott Aviation approved policies and procedures, including aspects of professionalism, safety, and cleanliness of the work environment. Ensure the team’s consistent use, control and compliance to appropriate approved technical data from only authorized sources, FAA approved documentation and OEM aircraft manufacturers’ maintenance & compliance documentation. Complies with burn requirement of FAR 25.853.


3. Oversee, complete, and maintain accurate & timely aircraft and project documentation. This documentation oversight includes reviewing preliminary reports to ensure accuracy of forecasting, billed labor hours, work order discrepancy and Pentagon documentation, etc. to ensure timely and accurate entries, inventory allocation, appropriate sign-off language, and accurate charges for labor prior to billing.


4. Inspect the seats, interior trim/panels for function, damage and quality from beginning of the project to installation to the completion. Coordinate the repair of any seat function or damage with either a qualified vendor or Elliott team member or OEM, utilizing the Elliott Aviation approved procedures, policies, and the appropriate OEM aircraft manufacturers’ maintenance manuals.


5. Support, maintain, and comply with all environmental, health, safety, federal, OSHA, state and local regulations.


6. Assist in professional and on job training for all team members, keeping updated records of training requirements met and needed. Assist in determining new training that positively adds to the safety and quality of the team.


7. Performs other duties as assigned


Job Specific Requirements:


Licenses:

FAA Repairman certificate

Must obtain and retain designation as an Elliott Aviation Production Inspector (Blue stamp for Structures)

Ability to attain & retain AOA badge or Airport requirements


Competencies:

Must be willing to manage a team with both experienced technicians and mentor junior technicians with a calm demeanor

Ability to communicate well in straight-forward situations

Organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Ability to analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public

Must possess excellent workmanship aptitude and a desire to initiate improvements with in defined boundaries


Physical:

Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs, occasionally lifts up to 100 lbs

Stands for long periods of time, with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling and stooping

Uses hands to reach, grasp and feel, with good finger dexterity

Reads, writes, speaks and understands English fluently

Visual acuity correctable to 20/20

Works in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, precarious places or noisy environments

Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes


Other:

Must possess minimum tooling required to perform duties assigned

Regularly scheduled attendance required

Must be able to work various shifts and overtime as directed

Occasional overnight and short notice travel


Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent

Thorough knowledge of FARs 43, 91, 135, 145

Five plus years Aircraft seat refurbishment experience necessary

Previous leadership role and supervisory experience necessary

Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills necessary
