GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • ACM III Aircraft Technical Inspector in support of fixed wing modifications at NAS Pensacola and NAS Corpus Christi as part of a contract field team.
  • Areas for support include SOF, CSI, GMI, MGI inspection and verification, compliance with aviation safety messages, work instruction verification, quality metrics, aircraft historical records to include weight and balance.

DUTIES:

  • Ensure that all requirements of applicable aircraft technical bulletins are met and required entries are made on applicable service and FAA forms.
  • Responsible for grounding an aircraft if required by the technical bulletin and submitting required reports.
  • Readily share knowledge/expertise and coach/mentor subordinates and superiors alike; provide management and supervision while looking out for the welfare of assigned personnel.
  • Prepare and verify quality control related documentation on request for turn-ins on airframe repair parts and engine components.
  • Assist in the monitoring of requisition of parts, tools, and supplies from a QA/QC perspective.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of DA PAM 738-751.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of NAMP 4790.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of FAA Regulations, FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, Airworthiness Directives, and use of FAA required inspection data.
  • Thorough knowledge of FAA parts procurement regulations and certificates of conformance.
  • Verifiable experience applying aircraft maintenance techniques and quality control functions to include automated TAMMS-A, maintenance management policies, safe for flight release, aircraft weight and balance, non-destructive inspection, shop practices, and safety.
  • Thorough knowledge of ground support equipment inspection and maintenance.
  • Perform aviation unit, intermediate and limited depot level inspections on airframe, turbine engines, and their components.
  • See and understand program conditions and take appropriate actions to maintain program momentum through insightful critical thinking and problem solving; synthesize complex or diverse information
  • Anticipates potential problems & proactively interfaces with appropriate managers to quickly resolve issues to preclude a negative impact to the program.
  • Solicit input and collaborate on solutions, facilitate change efforts through collaboration, and build consensus for decisions.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; write clearly and informatively; vary writing style to meet needs.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel is required for this position
  • Must have been certified or licensed as a military QA inspector or FAA IA.
  • Experienced in depot structural repair and/or modification and have experience inspecting primary and secondary aircraft structure in this capacity for a minimum of 24 months.
  • Must have extensive knowledge in the requirements and application of DCMA 8210.1C, AS9110.
  • Must have experience with management of NAMP 4790 programs and NAVAIRINST 3710.1 Ground Operating Procedures (GOPs).
  • Verifiable experience applying aircraft maintenance techniques and quality control functions to include automated TAMMS-A, Maintenance management policies, aircraft weight and balance, non-destructive inspection, shop practices, and safety.
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
