Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) provides high quality infant, toddler preschool and after school programs on 18 elementary school campuses.

SCUSD is seeking a passionate Early Childhood Education professional interested in making a difference in the lives of young children ages 3-12 years old. As one of our dynamic and experienced site leaders, you will ensure your program provides hands-on, developmentally appropriate educational activities, enriched and inviting indoor and outdoor classroom environments, and lead your team of child development professionals to create a positive early learning experience for children and their families.

LOCATION: Agnew District Preschool and Afterschool Learning Enrichment Program

HOURS:Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, 12 months

(Center hours M-F, 7:30am-6:00pm. Must be available to open or close the center as needed).

Salary based on education and experience. Candidates who possess a valid CA Child Development permit are placed on higher pay scale (additional 5%).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA in Early Childhood Education or related field (MA preferred) and a current Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higher
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience working with children ages 3-12 years old in a preschool and after school enrichment program
  • 2-3 years of progressive leadership experience working as a supervisor supporting preschool and after school classrooms
  • Ability to problem solve, use good judgment, communicate effectively both verbal & written, set priorities and goals, resolve conflict and manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to perform job duties with minimum supervision
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications i.e.. Word, Publisher, Excel, Internet; preparing and maintaining accurate records
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Must be in good health, able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam
  • Must be able to walk, squat, bend and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Responsible for the day to day organization and operation of the program.
  • Provide leadership in creating a high quality Early Education and Youth Development program for preschool (3-5 years) and school age (Kindergarten-5th grade) children.
  • Provide leadership in creating developmentally appropriate curriculum directly connected to the needs and interests of the children.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with High Scope, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, QRIS, Preschool Learning Foundations, Desired Results Developmental Profile, Project Based Learning, Coding Curriculum, STEM/STEAM and/or ECERS/SACERS preferred.
  • Manage center financial, marketing and enrollment functions.
  • Ensure the health and safety needs of the children are met and issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately.
  • Promote a classroom environment that helps children develop positive relationships with peers and adults.
  • Use Positive Discipline in classroom management techniques.
  • Create exciting and enriched classrooms connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences.
  • Coach and mentor teachers in curriculum development, classroom management and parent/family partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff by role modeling workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player.
  • Provide excellent customer service for families, school, and community.
  • Ability to clearly convey messages regarding organizational policies, procedures and practices.
  • Site Supervisor may be in ratio to assist with breaks/absences.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.84 - $45.79 per hour
