The Aging Support Specialist conducts general screenings of clients to determine needs and makes referrals to appropriate providers of human services and long-term care services and supports. Also responsible for coordinating volunteer transportation services for customers.
The Aging Support Specialist position starts at $17.00/hour. Schedule can vary; 35-40 hours per week.

The Aging Support Specialist job responsibilities include:
- Provides unbiased information on long term care support services and other human services
- Acquires and maintains a thorough knowledge of all local long term care programs, as applicable to older adults and individuals with disabilities
- Conducts research for services, contacts family or friends, and/or seeks guidance from other agency/program staff on behalf of the client
- Assists with and conducts public presentations and education sessions
- Screens, assesses, and determines eligibility for customers requesting transportation services
- Schedules volunteer transporters based on client transportation requests
- Interviews and trains volunteer transporters
Minimum Education and Experience for Aging Support Specialist:
- A graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree AND one year of full-time paid experience in human services or a related field; OR
- A graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college with an Associate’s degree AND three years of experience in human services or a related field; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma AND five years of experience in human services or a related field; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated above.
