After School Tutor: 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Job Purpose or Objective(s): As the Summer Leadership Academic Tutor, you will oversee the implementation and daily operations of the Chahta Himmak Pila Pehlichi six-week summer camp program serving the Native American youth between the ages of 14-24. You will report to the Project Director of The Chahta Himmak Pila Pehlichi Program.
Primary Tasks:
You will provide comprehensive instruction in post-secondary education and job preparation, career exploration, goal setting, leadership skills development, financial management, life skills, and Choctaw culture.
Facilitate and provide inspirations to youth in the development of a participant-led service-learning project.
Organize and oversee community service activities.
Provide occupational information, guidance services, personal, and group counseling to develop career education plans.
Recruit and schedule guest speakers and mentors.
Develop fun and interactive program curriculum and instructional materials that meets the needs of participants.
Assess student needs and modify program delivery accordingly.
Monitor participant progress toward meeting self-identified development goals.
Collect program data when needed by the Project Director.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field
Secondary education certification or equivalent
Motivated about helping and assisting youth.
Communicate well with management, peers, and youth both verbally and written.
Think independently.
Organize and prioritize work and projects.
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft products
1 year experience in classroom teaching
