Position Summary & Program Specifications

Get Safe’s Advocacy & Training Specialists (ATS) provide services and support to Consumers with developmental disabilities who are registered with the California State Regional Center system. ATS staff are responsible for assessing and responding to the areas of a consumer’s life where advocacy and assistance is needed.

Working under the Individual & Family Training (IFT) Program, you will provide training on different safety-related topic areas to consumers and families in-person either in their home or in the community. The following are IFT program-specific details and/or responsibilities:

  • Part-time; non-exempt; 20-32 hours/week (Hours fluctuate weekly based on the frequency of Client meetings. Has the ability to move to full-time with benefits.)
  • Starting Pay Range: $20 - $24 per hour
  • Service areas: Orange County (Anaheim, Anaheim Hills, Fullerton, Yorba Linda, Brea, and surrounding cities)
  • Availability preference: 12 - 6 pm is preferred; however, position allows for unique individual availability as appointments are self-scheduled.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and able to drive to Consumer locations. Mileage is reimbursed.
  • No medical or dental benefits are offered at this time. Has the ability to move to full-time with benefits.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition to program-specific responsibilities, the following are general, yet essential responsibilities of the ATS position in terms of service delivery, administrative tasks related to training services provided, and compliance with company standards for professional conduct and culture.

Service Delivery

  • Conduct assessments of Consumers’ presenting needs and generate service recommendations and plans, per program scope of work
  • Implement training concepts applicable to the case; adapt trainings to consumer’s individual learning style
  • Assess and track progress towards training goals through detailed notetaking
  • Identify and escalate risks as needed
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed, to clients/families
  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards of mandated reporting

Administration

  • Generate and submit clear and concise training reports and meeting notes, using proper written and grammatical English language skills
  • Maintain client records and activity tracking logs daily, reflecting training performed
  • Submit accurate activity tracking and billing logs weekly via online platforms
  • Participate in weekly status update reviews with Program Supervisor
  • Participate in case reviews and case consultation, as required/needed, with RC Admin staff

Professional Conduct & Culture

  • Execute all work functions with high integrity, tact, and a positive attitude
  • Utilize a collaborative spirit, proactive communication, and a problem-solving mindset to provide optimal services to our consumers
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with program administrative staff through consistent communication of pertinent developments
  • Respond to administrative communication within 1-2 days via appropriate means (e.g., e-mail, phone call/text message, MS Teams Chat)
  • Submit requests for leave/time-off or over-time approvals to Program Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate competence and character that inspires trust by adhering to agency and program policies, procedures, directives, and ethics
  • Participate in mandated trainings, quality assurance meetings, and opportunities for professional development, with a willingness to give and receive balanced, constructive feedback

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bilingual - English & Spanish
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organization, task, and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal English grammar skills
  • Ability to maintain high level of client-confidentiality
  • Ability to exercise independent, sound judgment

  • Experience working with persons with disabilities or other underserved populations is preferred
  • Experience in delivering in-field training and instruction services is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint
  • Ability to deliver in-person services (in accordance with COVID-19 Safety Guidelines)

Qualifications

  • B.A. degree in psychology, human services, social work, education, or related field, with 1-2 years of relevant experience (two-year degree with a minimum of 4 years related work experience may substitute)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to/use of personal vehicle in work capacity
  • Demonstrated patience, professionalism, and integrity
  • Comfortable delivering in-person services (in accordance with COVID-19 Safety Guidelines)
  • A team player who is self-motivated to help, with a flexible, problem-solving mindset
  • Belief in our mission and in the importance of being an agent of change
  • Proficient and comfortable with computers and different software
  • Experience with client documentation and billing
  • Must be Covid-19 fully vaccinated and boosted

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance for personal vehicle used for work-related purposes
  • If deemed necessary, additional certifications may be required, including but not limited to: CPR/1st Aid Certification, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault State Certifications, Crisis Prevention/Intervention Certification

Working Conditions

The employee has control over personal work schedule; however, employee is required to be available for service delivery and administrative communications during regular business hours (8am-6pm), per the specifications of employee status (PT) and a minimum of 20 hours per week. Work is performed in the field both indoor and outdoor. The employee must be able to travel to client locations.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person or via modes of telecommunication. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms, bend, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee occasionally must sit and may lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
