OVERVIEW
Guide and counsel girls and boys in camp activities, teach the camper new skills, and help carry
out camp goals. The counselor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out
activities and guiding campers in their personal growth. This is a seasonal position that reports
to the Program Coordinator.

Camps ages:
Rising 1st through rising 3rd graders (Seekers)
Rising 5th - rising 9th graders (Trekkers & Adventurers)

Camp Training Sessions:
May 22nd-26th – Leadership Staff Training, times TBD (attendance required)
May 29th-June 2nd – All Staff training, times TBD (attendance required)

Camp Dates: June 5th-August 11th, Monday-Friday

Camp Hours: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Early drop off between 7:30-9:00 am
Late pick up from 4:00-5:00 pm – Seekers
Late pick up from 4:00-6:00 pm – Trekkers & Adventurers

Camp Locations:

• Founders Dairy Barn, Anne Springs Close Greenway (Seekers)
• Hampton Wildlife Fund Adventure Center and Bob Reid Field Trial Barn (Trekkers & Adventurers)

KEY FUNCTIONS

• Serve as a role model counselor for camp counselor staff
• Ensure all camp policies and procedures are being followed by staff and campers
• Support and motivate camp counselor staff, to include tasks such as observations, behavior modeling, & conflict resolution support
• Responsible for cleanliness and organization of assigned area; ensure campers and staff treat all persons as well as camp and personal property with respect
• Maintain high standards of safety and security to prevent accidents and to respond appropriately in emergency situations
• Is considered part of the leadership team and assists groups as necessary
• Ensures COVID protocols are being followed and maintained at a high standard
• All other job duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to attend both weeks of leadership staff and all staff training
• Ability to work majority of the summer. All camp staff get one consecutive week off during summer

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Some physical requirements of a Camp Counselor position include: endurance, prolonged standing,
some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, biking, climbing, and stretching; requires
eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities;
requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50lbs; daily exposure to inconsistent weather conditions such as sun, heat, or rain and animals such as bugs and snakes, etc.
