Adoption and Resource Consultant – Bloomingdale

Attention - Animal lovers who enjoy connecting with people. You can improve the lives of animals and people by being the connection for all things animal-related at Anderson Humane.

Starting at $16 per hour, every employee who completes online Fear-Free Training on their own time (can be completed in one day), receives an automatic $1 per hour bump in pay. Employees who speak Spanish receive an additional $1 per hour bump in pay.

Part-time and full-time positions are available. Location hours are Monday-Saturday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sundays. Candidates must be available for weekend shifts.

We look internally for advancement into full-time, management, and other shelter roles. Time in position and performance are considerations for promotion.

The ideal candidate has customer service experience, loves animals, and has excellent in-person and phone communication skills.

Position tasks include but are not limited to:

• Making adoption connections and placing animals in a loving home.
• Answer questions from the public regarding animal-related programs and services.
• Provide kind, efficient, and thorough service, regardless of the guest's reason for their visit.
• Learn fear-free strategies and connect and learn the personalities of the animals in our care.
• Demonstrate compassion for people who must make the hard decision to relinquish their animal.
• Willingness to work with cats and dogs that include a wide variety of sizes and temperaments.
• Accurate record-keeping.

Anderson Humane was incorporated in 1966 as the Humane Society of North Central Illinois. Over the years, the shelter has transitioned from a traditional community animal shelter to one of the most progressive humane societies of its kind.
