Reasons Eating Disorder Center (Reasons) is seeking candidate professionals, preferably with previous experience working with LGBT+ communities, to provide compassionate care to our diverse patients for our residential treatment facilities located in beautiful, intimate six-bed houses in the Pasadena, San Marino and the Arcadia neighborhoods of the Los Angeles area.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelors’ or Masters’ Degree in psychology, social work or a clinically related mental health field preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a mental health setting and/or business administration preferred, but not required. Working knowledge of handling multiple phone calls, using Microsoft Office, and communicating and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with families and patients providing initial clinical assessments and crisis intervention preferred.

Job Description: The Admission & Referral Specialist is responsible for maintaining knowledge of resources in the Eating Disorders field, facilitating eating disorder admissions by implementing the Eating Disorder Admission Protocol for all potential patients, interfacing with clinical staff and business development staff to promote excellence in patient relations and maximize admissions to all levels of care within the eating disorder programs at BHC Alhambra Hospital.
We provide a place of respite and reflection for persons of all genders, all ages work through their eating disorders and discover their reasons for recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the initial point of contact for potential eating disorder patients.
- Obtains and records accurate documentation for each call including referral sources, demographic information, level of care requested, financial/insurance information and follow-up requirements.
- Completes admissions clinical consultations.
- Obtains initial authorization from insurance company.
- Obtains, maintains, and communicates accurate and up to date information on each call until the day of admission, following the Patient Admitting Flow Chart.
- Monitor eating disorders referrals and admissions, and implement strategies to maximize conversion potential and patient satisfaction in consultation with business development and clinical staff.
- Responds appropriately to telephone inquiries, providing accurate information, in an empathic manner.
- Process all requests for information to all referral sources in consultation with business development and clinical staff.
- Assists with providing facility tours to physicians, therapists, dietitians, and prospective patients and families.
- Assists with arranging travel for the admission of patients, notify the business office, and provide the patient with a list of approved items to bring to treatment.
