The Field Museum of Natural History’s Negaunee Integrative Research Center is looking for an Administrative Coordinator for the Negaunee Integrative Research Center and the Science and Scholarship Funding Committee. The Administrator will provide administrative support and coordination primarily for the Director of the Negaunee Integrative Research Center (NIRC) and secondarily for the Chair of the Scholarship and Science Funding Committee (SSFC). Research at the Field Museum is housed in the NIRC. The NIRC is a leader in state-of-the-art collections-based natural history research and social sciences. Research is being conducted in the fields of earth and planetary sciences, zoology, botany, and anthropology in disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects. The NIRC is comprised of the faculty-level curatorial staff, research scientists, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and the Museum’s interdisciplinary laboratory facilities, including the Pritzker Laboratory for Molecular Systematics and Evolution, the Grainger Bioinformatics Center, an Elemental Analysis Facility, a Scanning Electron Microscopy Lab, and Fossil Preparation Facilities and associated staff.

We are looking for a collegial individual with excellent organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency with Office applications Excel, Word, and Powerpoint (or equivalent), and willing to be trained in new software including but not limited to finance software, application management system, content management system. Our Administrator supports the Director and its staff with internal and external museum-related events. Our new Administrator must be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with little supervision.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for the NIRC Director and NIRC
  • operations
  • Provide administrative support for the SSFC Chair
  • Provide administrative support with internship programs in the NIRC


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience in a relevant role
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Office applications Excel and Word (or equivalent)
  • Willing to be trained within new software (e.g., finance software,
  • application management system, content management system)
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with
  • little supervision
