STATUS: Adjunct/Part Time (Fall 2023)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Campbell University Lundy Fetterman School of Business invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Accounting. This position will teach either one or two sections of MBA 710: Accounting for Decision Making online. This is an 8-week asynchronous online course taught during the Fall II term beginning on October 16, 2023 and ending on December 8, 2023. The course description is as follows:

MBA 710: Accounting for Decision Making

This course investigates the usefulness and application of management accounting concepts to solve business problems. Topics covered include planning, budgeting and forecasting, performance management, cost management, decision analysis, and professional ethics. Students will apply critical thinking skills, work in teams, and employ independent analysis of contemporary business issues using management accounting models. Case studies are utilized to develop investigative and critical thinking skills. The cases explore the influence of the global economy on accounting information, an ethical decision-making framework, innovative trends in management accounting and the limitations of accounting information. (Credit Hours: 3, Prerequisites: None)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbook
  • Select and administer tests and assignments that permit measurement of performance relative to the course learning objectives
  • Evaluate and assess student performance.
  • Post grades to Campbell’s Self-Service portal.
  • Complete Campbell’s Powell Online Teaching training prior to teaching the course.
  • Maintain professional communications with students and staff at all times.
  • Respond promptly, no later than one business day, to student emails and requests for assistance.
  • Interest/ability to teach in a online environment should the course transition to a remote environment
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A terminal degree in Accounting, or a related field, is desired. (All work must be documented with official transcripts upon request)
  • Industy experience is desired
  • Teaching experience is desired

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written channels
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard methods of digital communication including web/text/chat platforms
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, and students, as well as members of the business community and public
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
  • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations
  • Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing educational environment
  • This position requires accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
