Job Details

Provide customer service regarding collection issues, process, and review account adjustments, resolve invoice discrepancies.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Monitor accounts receivable and identify overdue accounts.
  • Contact customers with overdue accounts and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan to collect it in installments.
  • Communicate with previous clients and customers to request payment and arrange payment plans.
  • Use credit bureau date, post office information, internet searches, and other tools to try to locate customers who have moved or changed phone numbers.
  • Enlist the efforts of sales managers and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
  • Maintain records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent account customers as well as records of any payments collected from the customer.
  • Update client accounts based on payment or contact information.
  • Maintain bookkeeping databases and spreadsheets, updating information as needed.
  • Submit regular reports on the status of unpaid accounts and any repayment progress.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable Department.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good listening skills
  • Patience and stress management
  • Experience working with computerized accounting systems.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other laws governing debt collection practices.
  • Problem solving skills
  • An associates degree or training in accounting and billing is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
