EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

Candidate will be responsible for administering and performing professional-level accountant work with a high degree of independence in the Accounting Division of Finance Department of the Town of Tarboro. Essential duties and tasks include purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, and other general accounting processes, as well as grant, contract, fixed asset, and risk management.

Candidate will also be responsible for the preparation of reports, maintenance of records, and performance of reconciliations of functions and accounts. Candidate must be knowledgeable in state laws, ordinances and regulations governing the duties of the position. Candidate must possess the ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations in support of goals and objectives. Candidate must be proficient in computerized accounting systems and must be highly motivated with effective oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. A valid NC driver’s license is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
