Margaritaville Beach House is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our team!

The ideal candidate will assist and support the Controller in the achievement of the Division's goals and the maintenance of adequate internal controls over all areas of hotel operations. Ensure timely completion of all reports generated.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor group master accounts from check-in through checkout, ensuring correctness of billing. Prepare and post city ledger adjustments as needed. Prepare and mail invoices with proper documentation same day as transferred to Accounts Receivable.
  • Prepare and mail individual travel voucher accounts with proper documentation same day as transferred to Accounts Receivable.
  • Follow up, collect and allocate payments including collection and reporting activities for any A/R accounts.
  • Research and respond to all credit card chargebacks within time limits set by credit card companies and corporate offices, processing the necessary adjustments when required.
  • Research and respond to all individual travel agent commission and guest billing inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Prepare the daily deposit as part of general cashier duties which includes issuing and maintaining back contracts
  • Match all invoices with purchases orders, receiving documents, packing slips, etc., ensuring that all bills represent authorized, legitimate purchases.
  • Properly code and record expenses to the correct cost center/general ledger account and obtain appropriate department head approvals.
  • Enter all invoices/vouchers into the computer for payment processing in a timely manner with special attention to vendors offering cash discounts.
  • Reconcile vendor statements on a weekly basis and handle vendor and internal inquiries.
  • Ensure A/P and A/R are in balance at the month’s end
  • Review financial reports in accordance with reporting calendars and insure that all reports are submitted on a timely basis.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to all front office employees. Recommend training necessary or provide training for specific tasks to front office staff.

Qualifications:

  • Clerical/Accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with internal & external guests
  • Basic working understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
