We are looking for a full-time Accounting Manager to work remotely or from one of our many office locations. Since 1990, WEST has grown to be one of the premier environmental and statistical consulting firms in the United States. The minimum base salary for this position is $80,000 and the maximum is $85,000, plus additional annual profit sharing bonus potential. Salary may vary based on education, knowledge and experience.


Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and instruction to the accounting staff and for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee tasks: invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee expense reimbursement, general ledger, credit card transaction, and client communication.
  • Supervise and develop a team of staff, provide staff with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and resolve escalated issues or disputes.
  • Train and instruct staff in job duties, company policies, and Deltek VantagePoint software application including working with the CFO to determine department staffing requirements and daily accounting operational needs.
  • Day-to-day accounting functions and quality control activities.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff and management.
  • Other accounting duties as assigned.

The Accounting Manager we are seeking has a great opportunity to help WEST take the next step in our growth as a premier environmental consulting firm. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Five (5) plus years of job-related accounting experience:
    • Experience working in a growing consulting service firm is preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, leadership principles and techniques and coordination of people and resources is preferred.
  • Proven experience working in accounting and financial systems.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system and all Microsoft office programs.
  • Highly collaborative work ethic with a track record of maintaining positive relationships with coworkers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive attitude and ability to work harmoniously with and supervise a diverse workforce.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Problem solving/analysis.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under time constraints and meet deliverable targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to appear for work on time, sit for long periods of time, follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive criticism.

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver’s license will be required.
