Our client located in the Coralville/Iowa City area, is currently seeking an experienced, polished, highly motivated, energetic and very detail oriented individual to join their boutique accounting firm as an Accounting Associate with the primary responsibility of assisting the Accountant, clients, and company to facilitate and deliver excellent service and exceed expectations. This position will perform a range of accounting functions and have the opportunity to work with tax, software and business case analysis to support duties related to daily operations of the office.


The desired candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Innovation and drive are critical success factors, and a positive and collaborative mind-set is a must. This position will be onsite with the option to potentially work hybrid.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO (you may request further detail):

Client Support

  • Compiling and reviewing financial information.
  • Preparing financial forms, documents, and reports.
  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial statements.
  • Assisting with tax filings, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and payroll processing.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local legal regulations and requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality when preparing and processing transaction
  • Anticipate, prepare, compile and independently initiate materials for meetings and perform follow up as needed.

General Office Support

  • Supporting the overall delivery of services to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Maintaining records and filing systems.
  • Make suggestions to systematize and improve office functioning to support the growth of the company
  • Anticipate Accountant’s needs and handle them proactively.
  • Commits to ongoing growth of skill sets and competencies needed to serve client, firm, and individual success.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • At least two years of accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of relevant state, federal, and local regulations.

DESIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced technical and software skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Office 365; Adobe Acrobat, )
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; Systems-Oriented
  • Experienced at multitasking and juggling varying responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise excellent judgment in order to reflect the firm’s values
  • High level of attention to detail, especially under pressure
  • Ability to manage deadlines independently
  • Polished, Professional, and Friendly demeanor

COMPENSATION AND HOURS

  • Compensation is negotiable depending on experience and initiative – room for growth and opportunity
