The Accounting Associate is a full-time position with the primary responsibility of assisting with month-end closing and financial reporting. This position focuses on the fundamentals of real estate accounting and finance in a start-up real estate workspace. The accounting associate will work closely with our CFO, Corporate Controller, and other team members to ensure the successful completion of tasks.

This position is an exempt, salaried position. The preferred work hours will be 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. The employee will be expected to work out of the Corporate office in Rosemont, IL, with occasional flexibility to work remotely.

Your Mission:

  • Reconciling bank statements with follow-up to Property Managers to resolve outstanding items (i.e. undeposited rent checks)
  • Entering receipts received at the corporate office and making bank deposits (reliable transportation required)
  • Maintaining work papers for prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, allowance for bad debt, etc., for the entire portfolio.
  • Preparing required journal entries as needed based on the work papers
  • Assist with month-end closing; financial statement review, adjusting entries, tenant charge verifications; accrual entries; bad debt analysis; AR summary report; reconciliation of all balance sheet GLs; monthly equity & debt reports.
  • Assisting with follow-up communication regarding distributions
  • Accounting-related special projects.
  • Lender draws packages. Lien waiver process standardization.
  • Credit card reconciliation.
  • New vendor setup and annual maintenance.
  • Managing virtual assistance for invoice processing.
  • Processing and reconciliation of lender loan statements.
  • New building utilities set up.
  • Corporate and bldg level cash projections and operating budgets.

Your Track Record:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, including strong academic performance
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication and multi-tasking abilities
  • Team Player
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products.
