Accounting Assistant Part-Time

The Accounting Assistant position was created to perform various accounting activities that contribute to the effective performance of the department, help meet department and store goals, and support management in upgrading and improving accounting systems and processes.
Additionally, this role works closely with Sales, Sales Support, Merchandising, and the Watch and Jewelry Shops, providing exceptional customer service and support to these internal departments.
Various activities and tasks are performed in this role, and daily responsibilities may shift from time to time as requested by leadership. The ability to work with others cross-functionally is critical.
The Accounting Assistant must demonstrate a high degree of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality at all times.
Essential Functions:
Accounts Payable: Assist with accounts payable functions including vendor relations, check/ACH/wire disbursements, research outstanding checks and credits, 1099 and tax related matters, and ensure timely, accurate payments.
Reconciliation and Reporting: Assist with various billing and sales reconciliation and reporting, including the tracking and reporting of consigned inventory, and credit card transactions.
Inventory: Assist with inventory receiving and physical inventory counts. Ensures accurate coding of inventory, and assists with researching variances.
Backup: Serve as a backup and additional support for Shipping, Watch Shop, and Sales Support.
Perform ad hoc functions as needed.
Typical work hours will total 20 hours per week. Longer work hours will be expected during peak times.

Experience, education, degrees and licenses:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of Accounts Payable experience required
  • Working knowledge of Sage Accounting Software preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related Office applications
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, and some carrying of packages and boxes of inventory (up to 20 pounds). Position also requires sitting for extended periods of time.
