Offering more than 100 certificate, associate and bachelor’s degree programs, Daytona State College (DSC) has responded to the education and workforce training needs in our region for more than 60 years. The college enrolls nearly 25,000 students annually at its seven instructional sites, with graduates serving in critical fields including health care, emergency services, business, education, hospitality, engineering, technology and more.


We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as an Accountant II.


Required Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. This position also requires a minimum of two (2) years in a business environment and accounting related field. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access, familiarity of Import/Export functions from Database Software, and a familiarity with Report Writing Software is preferred.


Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of governmental accounting and experience in State of Florida policies and procedures is preferred.


The salary is $41,000.00


Working Hours: This position may require evening and/or weekend hours as needed due to workload.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Inputs Foundation deposits and journal entries into Financial Edge.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations of Investment and Bank Accounts. As well, prepares quarterly financial reports to assist Budget Director for Board presentations.
  • Process Foundation check request to include cutting checks in the Financial Edge system. As well as scholarship payments made to the College.
  • Assists the Budget Director in the preparation and execution of the annual budget cycle and assist in conducting Budget Review training classes college wide.
  • Inputs budget data into the College's computer system in the form of amendments to ensure budgetary accuracy and processes budget related data from Employment Action Forms. Assist Budget Director in preparation of monthly board reports.
  • Assist with the preparation and compilation of data for audit/year end for the Foundation and DSC. As well as assist in the annual 990.
  • Reconciles Pooled Assets for the Foundation.
  • Assign new Foundation project identification numbers and open new projects in the database system.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Applicants must have a working knowledge of accounting principles, practices and reporting requirements; knowledge of accounting software and database data extraction; provide a high degree of computerized accounting experience. Applicants must have the ability to work with accounting personnel as well as other departments to gain information and ensure accuracy of accounting transactions; applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
