This is complex clerical and accounting work, performing calculations and record keeping duties.

Generally, the hiring range is $51,608-$64,510 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reconciles balance sheet account activity and resolves errors and outstanding items.
  • Assists Human Services staff with expenditure submissions to the State and reconciles revenue payments from the State.
  • Provides year-end analyses on Human Service programs for Single Audit preparation. Assists auditors with questions relating to balance sheet accounts and Human Services accounts.
  • Assists with plastic bag fee tracking, remittances, reporting and inquiries from citizens and vendors
  • Processes payment vouchers, journal entries and other administrative duties for the Finance department.
  • Provides support to the finance staff acting as a backup for various functions including sales tax, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Performs vendor setup.
  • Performs general ledger research in JD Edwards and purging documents in compliance with the retention policy when necessary.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as required to support the Finance Department.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed independently within established policies and guidelines. Higher-level decisions are made in conjunction with management approval. Work product and results are routinely reviewed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not supervise other employees.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: This is a professional, accurate, and detailed work involving County financial matters. Attention to detail is crucial. Work is independent under the general guidance of a supervisor. Worker chooses courses of action in consultation with supervisor as appropriate. Incumbent works with specific tasks and goals that will require completion by specific due dates but may also be assigned work without defined time frames.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • Two years of work experience in an accounting background
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • JD Edwards experience a plus.
  • DocuSign workflow
  • Strong organizational skills; must be extremely detail oriented.
  • Familiarity of Microsoft 365 programs

Skills:

  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Language skills: communicate effectively both orally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisory staff, other departments, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Proficient in data entry, 10-key by touch.

Abilities:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Ability to utilize initiative to direct own activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Open to change and willing to learn new skills.
  • Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet deadlines.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office environment.

Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary. Must be able to be heard, understood, and communicate clearly.

Material and Equipment Directly Used: Computer, phone, copy and fax machine, and other typical office equipment.
