Academic Transition Support Coordinator - American Sign Language (FT)
Job description
(after 90 days of employment)
Key responsibilities include (But are not limited to):
- Regular work Schedule Monday-Friday 9 am - 4 pm
- Hybrid position requiring both remote and on-site services in school districts throughout New Jersey.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Proficiency in computer functions, Microsoft word, outlook, and PowerPoint
- Provide Pre Employment Transition Skills Training to Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students.
- Create a collaborative relationship with High School counselors and teachers to provide supplemental support in the area of Job Exploration, college preparation, work-based learning experiences readiness training, and self-advocacy to Students.
- Communicate with clients, supervisors, and stakeholders utilizing American Sign Language as the primary mode of communication.
- Adapt program materials to meet consumer communication needs and support learning styles.
- Provide both on-site and virtual support through one on one meetings and classroom instruction via zoom and google classroom.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Associate degree required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Able to support students through sign or oral communication or both.
- Must pass state proficiency exam given by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) after hire.
- Possess a valid driver’s license & acceptable driving record.
