3rd shift Laser Operator
Tools Required: Tape measure, steel gauge, dry erase marker.
Safety: Safety glasses with side shields must be worn at all times, except during scheduled break times; steel-toe boots with meta-tarsals must be worn at all times; hearing protection (ear plugs) must be worn at all times, except during scheduled break times; other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as gloves, when required.
Summary: The laser operator will load appropriate materials onto laser and perform laser cutting operations effectively and efficiently per specifications, work instructions, schedules and drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Keeps Scheduler / Programmer informed of all relevant information.
  • Complete tasks for laser operation while applying standard practices.
  • Perform setup and operation on Mazak laser.
  • Use steel gauge to validate thickness of appropriate materials loaded for specific job orders.
  • Load correct materials and unload lasered parts.
  • Interpret and follow written instructions, schedules, documents, blueprints and specifications.
  • Use precision instruments to check tolerances and quality of lasered parts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor program errors independently.
  • Work under little supervision.
  • Ability to stop and ask for clarification if not understanding job instructions or work orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Have fun and enjoy your job. Ensures a clean hand off of good quality product to your customer (the next operation), in this case the welding department.
Work Conditions – Perform operations in a normally noisy, fast-paced, industrial manufacturing environment. Standing for duration of shift, other than scheduled break times. Wear PPE as required.
Job Qualifications:
  • CNC Operation preferred.
  • Must be able to use and interpret measuring tools such as micrometer, caliper and tape measure to ensure specs.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must have solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must follow safe manufacturing and material handling practices.
  • Follow written and verbal details to complete assignments, job orders, or projects.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels in the organization.
  • Understand machine set-up including: program retrieval, proper nozzles, proper gases, start-up and shut down for laser machine.

  • Employment contingent upon successfully passing background check and drug screening.
**Temp-to-hire position, first 90 days (introductory/probationary period).
