JOB MISSION:

New Balance has over 100 years of history of creating innovative products from footwear to apparel. As we move into the digital age, New Balance has taken a leadership position in taking a digital first mindset to our work. New Balance has created a robust 3D visualization team that is focused on creating digital assets from design to manufacturing to the consumer. New Balance continues to grow their abilities within the 3D visualization space by adding experts from outside of footwear and apparel industries.

In this role, you will be working as part of the 3D Visualization team at New Balance. This role will be reporting to the director of 3D Visualization. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset that can help create custom programming for various 3D software platforms.

One of the key software packages you will be working on is Colorway, which is a Qt based, cross-platform application, built on the Vulkan graphics library, using image composition in real-time to produce life-like images of new products. You will be required to take designs from the Product Designer and with the lead’s help and guidance produce accurate estimates of the work involved, and then produce the features required in C++ within the Colorway application, working with design and QA to produce a user friendly, stable feature within the application.

We are also looking for a programmer that can build custom tools for Modo and Gravity Sketch. We are looking for someone that can work across our software platforms to help customize them for our specific footwear needs.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assist in the design, implementation, and documentation of complex software features
• Document your work clearly and concisely in the source code including contributing to automated testing where required
• Contribute to the culture and success of the team, providing assistance, code reviews, etc. as and when needed
• Be a part of project planning and success by providing effort estimates across the tasks assigned to the team
• Be responsible for the software quality and stability by investigating bugs, fixing, and improving performance.
• Assist our 3D Visualization team with investigation and suggestions related to issues reported by users, primarily designers
• As a senior engineer you will at times be required to help support and mentor junior engineers, helping them grow into rounded and productive members of the team.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

• A minimum of 5 years C++ in a production environment.
• A deep knowledge and production experience of the Qt framework and QML based UIs.
• GPU API experience preferably Vulkan
• A working experience of Agile Development Practices.
• Knowledge of development tools and processes as part of a team
• Experience of cross OS development including OSX and Windows
• Good communication skills, well organized, good time management
• Python for Kit Development

LOCATION:

New Balance is headquartered in Boston, MA. Our main development center is located just north of Boston in Lawrence, MA. Lawrence location or remote opportunities.

Flexible Work Schedule
