DISTRICT SUPPORT, JOB COACH

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • A minimum of sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Prior business management experience is preferred.
  • Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Director of Pupil Services

JOB GOAL: Act as a liaison between the school and the cooperating employer, and serve as a coach/supervisor to the student in the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Conducts interviews with students referred by district schools.
  • Orientates students of approved employer requirements.
  • Matches student’s skills and abilities to employer needs.
  • Works one-on-one with students to help them succeed within the parameter of their IEP and be knowledgeable of their disabilities and how to help the students compensate for those disabilities in a work environment.
  • Evaluates students on a regular basis to assist in calculating and providing student’s grade in the program.
  • Works closely with appropriate department heads including Community Service, Public Relations and Marketing, and Volunteer Service.
  • Maintains close contact with appropriate employer departments to help promote success for students assigned to those departments and to help provide an opportunity for future students.
  • Provides written job proposals for potential jobs for students.
  • Maintains pertinent records.
  • Reports student absences.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Adheres to good safety practices.
  • Adheres to all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

RETIREMENT: Public Education Employee Retirement Systems (PEERS)

CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
