Description/Duties & Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Arts and Events Supervisor, this position will work directly with the City staff to provide residents with a variety of theatrical programs, and events at the M.A.I.N (Municipal Arts In Newhall) which is an 81 seat theater and art gallery.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Position may work up to 20 hours per week
  • Flexibility to work a variety of hours/days, including weekends and weekday evenings

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Organize, plan and work directly with the Arts and Events Supervisor
  • Interact with facility renters, productions, general public, participants, and City staff in person, via email and/or phone
  • Operate Berenger X32 sound board
  • Operate ETC Nomad Puck light board
  • Maintaining and fixing equipment including the Rep Lighting Plot and light focus and position
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of programs, classes, special events, and meetings
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and follows up on work assignments to meet required

  • Communicates effectively with City staff and members of the public
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as required
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Arts and Events Supervisor
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Possession of valid Class C California driver’s license and safe driving record is required
  • Prior event production experience highly desirable
  • Background in theater management highly desirable
  • Experience with lighting and sound equipment highly desirable
  • A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Excellent understanding of the ETC Eos Family Lightboard operation as well as programming.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to provide information to customers in a professional, helpful and quick manner
  • Ability to work with a team and independently
  • Self-motivated to take initiative on projects
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Strong conflict management skills and the ability to resolve issues that may involve upset patrons, renters or productions

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and positively both verbally and in writing with patrons, renters, productions and staff

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with computer programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends

As a City of Santa Clarita public employee, you may be called upon to work as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) in the event of an emergency (in accordance with Government Code §§ 3100-3109). Before entering upon the duties of employment, all public employees, except those excluded by law, take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation set forth in the California Constitution, declaring them to be Disaster Service Workers in time of need.

In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.

PTS workers are at-will. Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 999 hours.
