Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert

KBR is seeking a Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert with 15+ years of experience with USAF Aircraft acquisition programs. This candidate will be providing direct support to Air Force Material Command (AFMC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) programs and projects by providing System Engineering, Digital Engineering and Digital Material Management strategy, training, and execution support. This position will also significantly influence KBR’s strategy in building capabilities to support USAF and other customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expert Digital Engineering strategies to KBR and customer organizations, including AFMC, AFLCMC, AFRL, and other Joint/Partner customers.
  • Conduct Chief Engineer level tasks on Air Force ACAT 1-3 programs and projects to include development of Digital Strategies, System Engineering Plans (SEPs), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs), and conduct regular Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and other key technical reviews
  • Provide expert analysis and recommendations for Weapon system Systems integration engineering, Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E), Airworthiness, cybersecurity, and other critical DOD Acquisition Engineering areas
  • Help develop engineering workforce training and empowerment programs both for KBR and Gov’t customers
  • Support identification, capture, and proposal development for new KBR Digital Engineering/Systems Engineering contracts
  • Performs functional analysis of a system to ensure it meets performance criteria and mission constraints and to feed the analysis results back to the subsystem development teams.
  • Formulates, recommends, and directs operations and procedures to resolve engineering and/or technical problems regarding operations, staffing, and equipment utilization on a specific project or projects.
  • Conducts special studies and investigations related to project activities and recommends changes as appropriate to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet changed or new requirements.
  • Analyzes project requirements and provides information and instruction for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, designing, and modifying equipment as appropriate.
  • Plans and coordinates the work of other engineers and technical personnel, with completed assignments subject to minimum review of overall results.
  • Trains, directs, and assists the efforts of other personnel, as required, to fulfill the objectives of the assignment. Serves as organizational consultant; leads multi-discipline or cross-functional team(s).
  • May supervise lower-level engineers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering Bachelor's Degree and 15+ years of directly related experience (Master’s degree desired)
  • DAWIA/ADP Level 3 Systems Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, airworthiness criteria, development of verification and certification requirements, and understanding the Air Force’s acquisition processes
  • Experience at the Chief Engineer level on an major USAF Weapon System
  • Experience on Center, Directorate, and/or Major Command level engineering organizations.
  • DoD Clearance Requirement: Secret with ability to gain a Top Secret/SCI
