We are seeking an Systems Safety Engineer at Air Force Research Laboratory (ARFL), Edwards, AFB, CA.

Responsibilities:

• Must be able to work with test areas and perform safety reviews of all plans and work authorizations.
• May be asked to serve as a test panel operator during test area's tests.
• Must be able to gain access to the customer’s computer networks.
• Work with systems personnel to ensure all designs are compliant with the propellants to be used.
• Write and review work assignments that Technician crews need to perform.
• Visit Technician team on the test pad ensuring work is progressing as planned
• Must be able to develop relationship with buildup crew and create a strong team environment
• Work independently but regularly communicate progress on tasks

This position is offering a pay range of $101,000 - $135,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. • Be responsible to engage with Test Area Leadership and customer Safety to engineer safety into every part of Test Stand Buildup.
• Attend test program concept briefs and offer requirements to assist the test program start their build-up in compliance with safety, environmental and quality.
• Manage a portfolio of test projects and ensure the project is meeting the Safety and Quality requirements.
• Build FMEAs for every test site supported.
• Evaluate all test program standard operating procedures and test operations procedures and resolve all safety issues and coordinate with quality assurance manager to analyze all safety requirements.
• Participate in various safety reviews and recommend modifications to existing design and ensure compliance to all organization requirements and administer all human safety.
• Participate in all test activities, evaluate all system engineering documents, and ensure compliance to all safety requirements.
• Ensure all pre-test requirements are met before allowing test are briefed to the AFRL Command.
• Review and monitor all AFRL safety policies and instructions and communicate all changes to the AFRL management staff.
• Evaluate all AF system safety engineering requirements.
• Technical Writing ability
• Demonstrated increase in experience and abilities.
• Strong background in Safe approach to tasks.
• Valid state vehicle operator's license.
• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a final security clearance at the SECRET level.

Education/Experience

• 5-8 years of experience in Mechanical or Chemical engineering or other relevant engineering degree.
• Experience with MS Office and database/data entry computer experience.
• Must be able to work at heights and below grade.
• Able to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Must be able to work in extreme cold and heat.
