Cook – Rodrigo’s Mexican Grill

Job Description

Location: Corona and Temecula Locations, CA

Status: Part-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt

Requirement: Must have experience and required certifications

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Cook with a positive attitude and a passion for food and top-notch customer service.

Rodrigo’s Mexican Grill is a local family owned company that has been in the restaurant business for 45+ years. We offer dining services throughout SoCal at 12 restaurants currently covering 4 different counties.

Job Summary

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook different kinds of foods according to menu and orders from customers
  • Must be able to slice, cut, chop, mince, stir, whip, and mix ingredients; add seasonings; verify taste; and plate meals
  • Responsible for properly executing cold and hot food cooking and preparations
  • Must be able to grill, sauté, roast, fry, and broil ingredients and properly assemble and refrigerate cold ingredients
  • Make sure all the foods are attractively served to customers
  • Ensure that all foods meet the standards of the health department and the establishment where they work
  • Must adhere to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintain temperature and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) logs as required; and maintain appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items
  • Responsible for storing leftovers according to established standards, coordinating with Manager daily food supply orders and inventory
  • Make sure everything in the kitchen is clean, sanitized and safe
  • Prevent food spoilage by proper food storage
  • Distribute the foods to the servers
  • Communicate to Manager when food supplies are low as well as malfunctioning equipment(s)
  • Other related tasks as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 5 years of experience required
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • 21+ years of age
  • Ability to communicate effectively and assertively in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in food safety and planning
  • Familiarity with proper lifting techniques
  • At least 1-3 years of relevant experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and time management skills
  • Food Handler Card (required)
  • ServSafe Certification (preferred)
