The Bodleian Libraries are looking for a library assistant with a passion for making collections accessible.
Working onsite at the Weston Library in central Oxford, you will join the John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera in the Bodleian's Department of Special Collections. You will assist with sorting, boxing and creating finding aids for a large backlog of pre-1960 printed ephemera, which will make this significant resource available for the first time.
You will have excellent IT skills, be able to work with care and attention to detail, and have good time management skills. An interest in social history and previous experience of handling original documents is desirable. The work involves standing for long periods with some lifting and carrying.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post for 14 months.
This role requires lifting and carrying boxes of library materials, pushing trolleys, climbing ladders and kick-stools in order to access some of the library’s bookshelves and to re-shelve materials.
