Hematology Techs Needed
A well-known and respected Brooklyn hospital is looking for technologists for their Hematology department.
Positions are full – time temporary Monday-Friday (plus every other weekend)
Shifts available:
3pm-11pm
11pm-7am
12am-8am shifts

Position Summary:
  • Selecting the test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical use of the test results.
  • Verifying the test procedures performed, and establishing the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system.
  • Participating in the NYS Department of Health approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered.
  • Establishing an appropriate quality control program.
  • Resolving technical problems, and ensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specification.
  • Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
  • Identifying training needs, and ensuring that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed.
  • Evaluating the competency of all testing personnel, and ensuring that the staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiency.
  • Evaluating and documenting the performance of individuals responsible for hi high-complexity testing at least semi-annually during the first year the individual tests patient specimens. Thereafter, evaluations must be performed at least annually.
  • Scheduling of work assignments and other related duties.
  • Within the framework or the Institution fiscal policies, try to maintain and update the instrumentation of the laboratory. Must be able to analyze and interpret the benefits of newer instruments, and make recommendations to administration for acquisition.
  • Administrative details centered about record keeping, annual reports, budget preparations, etc.
  • Maintain proper log for capital equipment items including maintenance and repair.
  • Attend and prepare for regularly scheduled supervisors meetings (Business and QA) scheduled at least 10 times per annum.
  • Prepare Quality Assurance Reports at least quarterly.
  • Performs all other duties as required.

    Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Minimum formal education of Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two years’ experience in the Laboratory field.
  • Clear understanding of the English language.
  • Ability to cope with emergency situations.
  • Adheres to all requirements of NYS DOH Law
  • Meets the education requirements of NYS Health Department.
  • NYS License for Laboratory Technologist.
